Bright colors seem to have taken a summer hiatus with celebs favoring neutrals on the red carpet this past week. Black was another popular option and several incarnations of the infamous little black dress showed up at various events. Creative detailing both on dresses and accessories was also clearly in fashion.

Anne Hathaway feigns a British accent in her new film, One Day, so it seemed only fitting that she chose to wear an offering from a British fashion house to the New York City premiere. Her strapless black Alexander McQueen Resort 2012 dress was set off by gold embroidery on the bodice and a flared skirt. Gold heels and coordinating Maykimay clutch, both by Christian Louboutin as well as Tiffany & Co. jewels polished off the look. Once again, Diane Kruger proves she has a sixth sense when it comes to style as she attended the Fox All-Star Party alongside beau, Joshua Jackson. The actress partnered a pretty, but basic black dress with an ivory Chanel Resort 2012 tweed jacket featuring red and black trim as well as Miu Miu Fall 2011 crisscross glitter ankle boots. Dianna Agron was still out promoting Glee: The 3D Concert Movie this week. She looked sophisticated and edgy at the film's Los Angeles premiere in a tulip wrap dress with textured chiffon and asymmetrical hem by Christian Cota. Camilla Skovgaard's ankle point strap sandals, a golden Ferragamo clutch, Cathy Waterman earrings and bracelet as well as a ring by H. Stern conspired to complete the ensemble. Hailee Steinfeld also made an appearance on the red carpet at the Glee movie premiere and provided one of only a few pops of color this week. She wasn't clad in Miu Miu despite being part of the brand's Fall 2011 campaign, instead opting for a red Louis Vuitton Resort 2012 dress paired with matching Louis Vuitton loafer wedges and a playful Jimmy Choo Pilar Bakelite Magazine clutch. Emma Stone certainly doesn't need any help looking phenomenal on the red carpet. She went with a sophisticated Chanel Spring 2011 Couture number with sheer top and knotted drape skirt for the Los Angeles premiere of her new film, The Help. Her purse and jewelry were also both by Chanel and she added in Brian Atwood’s Nico pumps. Teen Choice Award winner, Selena Gomez kept it fun and youthful in a strapless Erin Fetherston Fall 2011 gold mini, which included a white chiffon sash. Brian Atwood purple and orange sandals, a bright fuchsia M.C.L by Matthew Campbell Laurenza jeweled minaudiere and gold flower earrings by Carla Amorim all served as accessories. It really is all in the details for Ginnifer Goodwin. The black beaded embellishments on the sleeves of her 3.1 Phillip Lim frock at the press panel for Disney ABC Television Group’s TCA 2011 Summer Press Tour made her stand out. Accessories added even more definition including a leather belt, Jimmy Choo Glint lace open-toe booties and Vhernier Plateau earrings. Ginnifer wasn't the only star at the tour favoring black. Christina Ricci showed up to the event wearing a Michael Kors smoke print dress combined with a red suede version of Yves Saint Laurent's well-known Tribtoo pumps. Images: Zimbio.com, Celebuzz.com
Jaime King must like lacy things because she hit the 10th Annual InStyle Summer Soiree in West Hollywood clad in a Jason Wu Fall 2011 ivory dress with lace overlay. The up-and-coming actress also made last week’s list thanks to her Mad Men-inspired lace creation. A strategically placed black ribbon suited the high neckline working seamlessly with her Chanel clutch and black heels. Over the course of her New York City promotional journey for her latest movie, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Katie Holmes has been a bit of a disappointment in the style department. She did have one stellar ensemble, though, consisting of a semi-sheer white button-up blouse, rust-colored H&M skirt and suede Isabel Marant ankle boots.
